Meet your artist
Angela Maria Jessie Franco (they/them) is a queer Filipinx-American tattoo artist and illustrator located in Portland, OR.
Their tattoos are composed of fine black and grey shading in an illustrative style.
They work with concepts such as: myth as living history, survival of myth as anti-colonial resistance, reinforcing queerness in Filipino cultural tales, and confronting modern day imperialism and militarization.
Angie does their best to integrate trauma awareness into their tattoo practice. Each tattoo, regardless of content, is an opportunity to reclaim oneself and practice autonomy.
Angie formerly owned a queer Filipinx tattoo shop in Seattle.
They created Barangay Books, a free lending library of Filipino literature located in The LGBTQ Center in Seattle, WA.
The library is free to visit, and is always taking Filipino-authored book donations. Learn more about the project by visiting @barangay.books
